Human Thrombin
REF
VTH-100
Thrombin (IIa) is a serine protease activated by Factors Xa, Va and phospholipids from purified prothrombin. VTH-100 is a highly purified thrombin designed for use in laboratory inhibition assays (Anti-IIa tests) of heparin and LMW-heparin.

Each vial of VTH-100 contains 100 IU of Human Thrombin, co-lyophilized with Tris buffer and mannitol stabilizers. Sealed glass container has a 20 ml capacity for reconstitution.

Human plasma origin: negative tests for viral pathogens
Synonym: IIa, Factor IIa
Purity: Homogenous by SDS-PAGE analysis
Molecular weight: ~36,700 Da
Activity per vial: ~100 IU/vial with synthetic pNA substrate
Activity of source enzyme: > 3000 NIH U/mg

Product should be stored refrigerated (2-8°C) and is stable until expiry in the unopened state. Stable 2 weeks at 2-8°C once reconstituted. Shipment of unopened product does not require refrigeration.

Thrombin converts fibrinogen to fibrin. Synthetic peptides containing a C-terminal pNA (e.g. VTS-25) mimic the fibrinogen cleavage site and allow use of Thrombin (IIa) in heparin and LMW-heparin inhibition assays.
