Each vial of VTS-25 contains 25 mg of IIa Substrate co-lyophilized with 120 mg of mannitol bulking agent. Sealed glass container has a 20 ml capacity for reconstitution.

The chromogenic peptide is cleaved by Thrombin to release free pNA, which is then measured photometrically at 405 nm. Used by researchers for Thrombin activity tests, the IIa Substrate in VTS-25 is also specified for the pharmacopeial Anti-IIa assay of heparin and LMW-heparin.
